Amazon.com reports that the CD will be made of gold. Most CDs use aluminum for the reflective coating, hence their silver appearance. Gold is used occasionally instead, and since the metal coats more evenly and reacts more slowly with oxygen, it lasts longer than the normal CDs. Typically, gold CDs are also mastered to a greater degree, often resulting in a higher fidelity sound, although that really has nothing to do with the gold layer, so it's not always the case.
