'These Old Bones' Heads To Netflix
Dolly's first movie in her eight-picture Netflix deal may be getting started soon. @CastingAbout tweeted Tuesday that Patrick Rush, who cast Dolly Parton's Coat Of Many Colors and Dolly Parton's Christmas Of Many Colors: Circle Of Love, is casting a Netflix project called "These Old Bones," which focuses on "in 1945, a legal battle ensues over land in Tennessee between two young lawyers and an elderly woman named Old Bones who is determined not to let the city folks have their way." Dolly had previously sold a movie based on the song "These Old Bones" to CMT, her staff had revealed and it was reported on Dollymania.net last year, but the network never announced the project, so presumably they decided to not film it – like what happened with NBC and "Jolene" – so the project appears to have moved to her Netflix deal instead.

Netflix Confirms Eight-Picture Dolly Deal
After pal Lily Tomlin let word slip over the weekend that Dolly and production partner Sam Haskell had inked a deal with Netflix to produce a series based on her songs, Dolly and the streaming network officially announced details of the project on Monday. The network has committed to a series of eight anthology movie episodes (meaning each one will stand alone plot-wise) based on a Dolly song. Dolly will be singer-songwriter on each episode, also appearing if the script calls for it, and executive producing through her Dixie Pixie Productions in partnership with Haskell's Magnolia Hill Productions through Warner Brothers Pictures – the same set-up which resulted in the ratings smash movies Dolly Parton's Coat Of Many Colors and Emmy-nominated Dolly Parton's Christmas Of Many Colors: Circle Of Love on NBC in 2015 and 2016. A 2019 premiere date is expected. In a release, Dolly said: "As a songwriter, I have always enjoyed telling stories through my music. I am thrilled to be bringing some of my favorite songs to life with Netflix. We hope our show will inspire and entertain families and folks of all generations, and I want to thank the good folks at Netflix and Warner Bros. TV for their incredible support."The Hollywood Reporter noted NBC declined to comment on whether it had declined to renew its deal with Dolly after the two movies (the network passed on a series based on the films) or if Netflix outbid them for the next round of pictures after plans for "Jolene" fell through at NBC (Dolly had recently said they were unsatisfied with the script).
