Asylum Records has signed Emmylou Harris and Linda Ronstadt to record a new duets album, Billboard Bulletin reports. Harris and Ronstadt collaborated with fellow pop/country diva Dolly Parton on the current Trio II album, also released by Asylum.
Trio II is at No. 91 in its fifth week on Billboard 200. The Harris-Ronstadt-Parton Trio album on Warner Bros. reached No. 6 on The Billboard 200 in 1987 and has been certified platinum by the RIAA.
Asylum says the planned duets album will be an early summer release. The pair may tour together to promote the album, according to a source.
